Boston Spa Digital were approached by the Boston Spa Beer Festival Committee to help build a brand new web presence, and create a paperless ticket experience.

The Challenge

Working with constraints

As a modest beer festival operating with limited funds, the committee was eager to offer a flexible directive. This enabled us to initiate the complete digitalization of ticketing for the festival, leading to entry without the need for paper tickets. Additionally, it allowed us to furnish attendees with event details easily accessible through the website. The website had to be operational within a timeframe of fewer than 10 weeks.

What we did

After some initial research on local beer festivals in the area, we set to work on high level concepts. Designing individual content sections and pages that were optimized for both desktop and mobile. We created a ticket purchasing checkout flow that allows festival goers to purchase and download their digital ticket and a means of checking the event timetable, drinks on offer and other events over the course of the weekend.

A platform for growth & exposure

By adopting a digital-first approach, ticket sales doubled and local community awareness saw a significant boost. The organisers were able to deliver a more seamless festival experience for attendees, volunteers, performers and entertainment providers, enhancing the overall enjoyment of the event and making lasting beer and music filled memories for all that attended.

The new website experience led to over 5,000 visits in a short period of time approaching the festival and continues to enable an improved digital presence.

Boosted ticket sales

Ticket sales enabled the parent’s run charity Friends of St Mary’s (FoSM) to fundraise in excess of £3,000 for the local primary school.

We are pleased to contribute to a fantastic local festival that brings the community together, enabling networking whilst allowing local brands and businesses to flourish.
